Legal
Terms & Conditions
The short version
- WordFlow is free to use. Your text stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- You own everything you type. We own the code, design, and branding.
- We provide the tool "as is" — counts and estimates are approximations, not guarantees.
- Don't use WordFlow to do anything illegal or to try to break the service.
1. Introduction
Welcome to WordFlow. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the WordFlow website and word counter tool (the "Service"), operated by the WordFlow team. By using the Service in any way — even just visiting the site — you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please discontinue use of the Service immediately.
These Terms were last updated on 15 May 2026 and are effective from that date.
2. Description of Service
WordFlow is a free, browser-based text analysis tool. It counts words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and more, and provides reading time estimates and keyword frequency data.
- Free to use. WordFlow is provided at no cost. No subscription, payment, or account is required to use the core tool.
- Client-side processing. All text analysis happens entirely within your browser. The text you type or paste into WordFlow is never transmitted to our servers, stored in any database, or seen by anyone on our team.
- No account required. You can use WordFlow without creating an account or providing any personal information.
- English-language interface. The Service is currently available in English only.
3. Acceptable Use
WordFlow is intended for personal, educational, and commercial writing tasks — drafting documents, analysing text, estimating reading times, and similar legitimate uses. By using the Service you agree that you will not:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the availability or operation of the Service.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service beyond what is publicly available in our GitHub repository.
- Use the Service to process or facilitate content that is illegal under applicable law.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to interact with the Service in a manner that could harm its performance for other users.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when contacting the WordFlow team.
We reserve the right to restrict access to the Service for any user or IP address we reasonably believe is acting in violation of these Terms.
4. Intellectual Property
The WordFlow name, logo, feather icon, site design, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript source code are the intellectual property of the WordFlow team, unless otherwise stated.
MIT licence. The WordFlow source code is published under the MIT Licence on GitHub. You are free to fork, modify, and distribute the code in accordance with the terms of that licence. The MIT Licence does not grant you the right to use the WordFlow name or branding in a misleading way.
Your content. You retain full ownership of any text you paste into or create within WordFlow. We make no claim whatsoever over the content you type. Because text processing is fully client-side, we never receive, store, or have access to your content.
5. Privacy and Data
WordFlow is designed to be private by default. The text you enter into the word counter is processed entirely in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag) to collect aggregate usage data (for example which pages are viewed, device type, and referrer) — not the text you type into the word counter. We also use your browser's localStorage to save your draft text and UI preferences on your device; that draft is not sent to us for counting. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Full details about what data we collect, how we store it, and your rights are described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
- Approximations. Word counts, character counts, sentence counts, reading time estimates, speaking time estimates, and readability scores are algorithmic approximations. They may differ from figures produced by other tools. Do not rely on them for purposes that require precision (e.g. legally binding word-count limits in contracts or submissions).
- Availability. We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times, free from errors, or free from interruptions. We may suspend or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.
- Third-party resources. WordFlow loads fonts and icons from third-party CDNs and uses Google Analytics / Google Tag for aggregate traffic measurement. We are not responsible for the availability or behaviour of those external services; see our Privacy Policy and each provider's terms.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the WordFlow team and its contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Because WordFlow is provided free of charge, the maximum aggregate liability of the WordFlow team to you for any claim arising under these Terms is limited to zero Indian Rupees (₹0) — the amount you paid to use the Service.
8. Third-Party Resources
WordFlow uses the following third-party resources delivered via CDN:
- Google Fonts — DM Sans and DM Serif Display typefaces (fonts.google.com). Use is subject to Google's terms of service.
- Font Awesome — Icon library (fontawesome.com). Icons are used under the Font Awesome Free licence.
- Google Analytics / Google Tag — Aggregate usage measurement. Use is subject to Google's terms and Privacy Policy summary.
- jsPDF — Used to generate PDF downloads entirely client-side. No data is sent to any server.
External links on this site — including links to our GitHub repository and Discord server — are governed by the terms and privacy policies of those respective platforms. WordFlow is not responsible for the content or practices of external websites.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time to reflect changes to the Service, applicable law, or our practices. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
For significant changes — such as introducing data collection, changing the licence, or adding paid features — we will post a notice on the WordFlow homepage for a reasonable period.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you disagree with the updated Terms, your only recourse is to stop using the Service.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in India.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
